Derived from the Latin gluttire its literal meaning is to “gulp down or swallow.” See, we told you it’s a familiar one this week. Gluttony itself is the over-indulgence and over-consumption of anything to the point of waste. To be a glutton is to be a person who is affixed by greed and has a great liking or capacity for something.

As gaming industry professionals, that alcoholic beverage connection is perhaps where we should focus our attention. Gluttony is as much a presence in the gaming industry as any of the sins. It’s very rare that alcohol actually goes to waste at an industry party though. The only waste will be…well…around the bowl of the lav.

Further than this, if over-consumption is a material part of gluttony, then the constant striving to acquire as many companies as possible is certainly present in many companies in the industry. It means that the huge multi-national companies that exist sometimes cut off some of the “dead-weight” acquired. It’s something that can only be seen as gluttony manifesting itself in the industry.

These risks and rewards make the industry all the more fun. If you finish it off by getting gluttonously shit-faced, then the fun will never stop. We are in the best freakin’ industry in the world. Why not celebrate it?!

Those wanting to see how far they can push their gluttonous limits should look no further than the CalvinAyre.com Seven Deadly Sins Party and the only way you can attend is by registering for the iGaming Super Show in Dublin.
