Ruth Ellen Brosseau might not be a household name to many of those visiting the tablog on a regular basis. If we told you that she’s blonde, likes a drink and parties in Sin City then I’m pretty sure we just got your attention.
The New Democratic Party’s (NDP) broad range of candidates, and being known for having the youngest candidates and mostly women, looks to have had quite the effect and has seen them become the official opposition in Canada.
The newly elected MP has taken the membership of a political “party” a little bit too literally as she continues to sample the best of what Las Vegas has to offer without an interview in sight.
If the drinkin’ and partyin’ lifetsyle of the newly elected MP wasn’t bad enough, she can’t even speak French. This is Quebec everyone. A place where you can imagine them frowning if you can’t speak the Quebecois dialect. If you can’t even speak bog-standard French then your chances have diminished.
In the riding that she was elected to, Berthierville, opinion is split on whether she should take up the post. One resident commented “People voted for someone without realizing she didn’t give a damn about Berthierville.” Whereas another told The Star, “We wanted change, period. We should give her a chance.”
Here at CalvinAyre.com we can’t really see what the whole fuss is about. Fair enough, she’s completely admonishing responsibility for a few days but it was such an unlikely victory that she might not even know she’s even won yet.
Anyone that goes to the gamblin’ capital of North America for a vacation on the eve of an election and then happens to win whilst she’s there is more than entitled to get shit-faced in celebration in our books. First young, blonde, NDP MP to become an honorary member of the gamblin’ drinkin’ and carryin’ on club? You bet ya!
