Mel Gibson ducks assault charge
There hasn’t been very many pleasant surprises for Mel Gibson in the last while. He’s damn near been painted as a monster in the media and then of course there are those voice recordings…That didn’t help his image.
But according to CNN, Gibson has recently had some pleasant surprises. On Wednesday his ex-girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva shockingly dropped the charges of domestic violence against him. Additionally, Grigorieva’s lawyer, according to sources, even requested lifting her restraining order against Gibson.
Gibson was reportedly stunned himself at the turn of events as the ex-couple are currently engaged in a custody battle over their one-year-old daughter and prior to Wednesday’s turn of events, Grigorieva had been using the accusations of domestic violence to prevent Gibson from having contact with their one-year-old daughter.
Even though Gibson may have ducked this assault charge, the move doesn’t affect a misdemeanor battery case in which the actor-director pleaded no contest to in March.
But let’s give credit to Gibson, he’s been reported to be undergoing domestic violence counselling, so at least he’s trying to address his weaknesses, which without question is also a wise career move. Nobody likes a hot head.
Gibson will still likely face a civil suit, one which he may not be able to duck so easily.
