Spot the difference!
After sitting back in their pram and watching what everyone else has to offer in the tablet and smart phone market, the innovator has had it and the toys are strewn all over the floor. Apple has decided enough is enough and are planning to sue the ass off Samsung in a lawsuit that was filed last Friday by the firm.
It’s claimed that the Galaxy phones and tablets infringe the patents for the iPhone and iPad. Apple is seeking injunctions as well as actual and punitive damages. Who said that Apple was going soft? It’s hard to core!
According to Mashable, Apple’s claims that the Galaxy Tab infringes on iPad patents and that the Galaxy S smart phone looks way too similar to the iPhone.
Showing they definitely “ain’t no mugs,” the lawsuit states: “Rather than innovate and develop its own technology and a unique Samsung style for its smartphone products and computer tablets, Samsung chose to copy Apple’s technology, user interface and innovative style in these infringing products.”
If Samsung weren’t already quaking in their boots from that, Apple spokesperson, Kirstin Huguet, added, “This kind of blatant copying is wrong. We need to protect Apple’s intellectual property when companies steal our ideas.”
By this stage Samsung were touching cloth. Then they just remembered that they’re developing super-fast smart phone processors and just kept walking.
It’s hard to see why Apple’s doing this unless they’ve finally decided to take Google’s Android OS seriously after many months of the system eroding away the Apple iOS market share. Don’t get us wrong; at a glance, the Galaxy S does look remarkably similar to the iPhone 3. The clue is that it has SAMSUNG emblazoned across the top of it.
It remains to be seen whether Apple pursue cases against any other company in the tablet or smart phone market. It’s quite unlikely that they’ll get anything out of this case though. Except the fun and games that a lawsuit brings, obviously.
