It’s a sad day in the entertainment world. One of the all time most beautiful women in the world has passed away. Stars in Hollywood have flooded Twitter to pay respects to Elizabeth Taylor who passed away today at the age of 79.
Taylor appeared in her first motion picture at the age of nine in “There’s One Born Every Minute”. In 1960, Taylor became the highest paid actress up to that time when she signed a one million dollar contract to play the title role in 20th Century Fox’s production of Cleopatra.
The list of accolades and nominations for Liz Taylor is almost endless. But for the past few years, she had been battling significant health problems. In 2004, it was announced that she was suffering from congestive heart failure, and in 2009 she underwent cardiac surgery to replace a leaky valve.
By February of 2011, symptoms related to congestive heart failure caused her to be admitted into Cedars-Sinai Medical Center for treatment. Taylor died on March 23, 2011, surrounded by her four children at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California, at the age of 79.
There will no doubt be several tributes held in her honour as she was truly one Hollywood’s first leading ladies and one of their biggest stars. Taylor also had a giving heart and will also be remembered as a generous philanthropist for her many acts of charity.
