Negreanu “pretty disgusting” in Showdown; EPT Snowfest underway

daniel-negreanu-disgustedThe hottest property in the world of poker, Viktor “Isildur1” Blom, last night again showed why he’s worthy of this title after crushing the latest challenger to enter the Superstar Showdown arena. Daniel Negreanu signed up for a bumper edition of the challenge that was supposed to last over two consecutive Sundays. Next Sunday’s match still happens but Negreanu will have to put up another $150,000 as he became the first player to lose before the 2,500 hands were dealt.

Blom had the dolla’ in his account after a little over four hours and only 1,439 hands played out. It looks like all those hours that Negreanu put in training up for the Showdown were to no avail and there were even rumors that next Sunday’s session simply wouldn’t take place. Negreanu later confirmed on Twitter that it will do but you can’t believe that the Canadian will be relishing the prospect of facing the stellar Swede for a second time.

This was after he had earlier Tweeted “This has been pretty disgusting so far. Can’t imagine running any worse,” during the match. I suppose he can’t do any worse in the second leg.

One of Europe’s more unique poker events got underway yesterday as the European Poker Tour Snowfest arrived in Hinterglemm.

When all was said and done yesterday evening, the chip leader was Martins Adeniya from the United Kingdom, who managed to close on 182,500. This was ahead of Dutchman Wim Bos in second on 130,200 and Virgillio DIcicco on 122,100.

If they can drag themselves away from the slopes for long enough, today’s action begins in day 1B at 2pm and will see another 180 or so players looking to make it through to day two on Tuesday.
