You’d have thought the fact that there aren’t anywhere near enough hours in a day would have moved Steve Jobs to create an app that could allow his company to complete mundane tasks for you. Like…talking to the wife, holding down a job, eating, the list could go on.
After all, Apple would be accused of depriving people of sleep were it a crime and that has only been reinforced by the fact that technology use is now being blamed for the lack of sleep.
A study carried out by the National Sleep Foundation found that almost two thirds of US adults get less than the seven hours sleep needed to fully function the next day.
Dr. Charles Czeisler, from Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, said, “You begin to have a 24/7 culture of entertainment. And these technologies have invaded the bedroom. They’re being captivated by the very technologies that are denying them the sleep that they know that they need.”
It was only earlier this month that a separate study found people that partake in gambling late at night are more likely to lose money so sleep really is caught between a rock and a hard place right now.
There really isn’t a lot that can be done about the rise of technology affecting sleep other than banning people from having the devices in the first place. Adding more hours into the day you probably be the best available option but until Steve Jobs invents the iGod then that’s also rather unlikely.
In the meantime we just suggest that you grab sleep when you can – a power nap here and there in between drinking sessions obviously Then if you get on those gambling sites late at night to pray on the tired ones then you’ll be all set.
