indian-film-tackles-cyber-bullyingWhen it comes to documentary/educational films you can pretty much predict the direction they might go in were they to include the online gambling industry. You’d have your super hero, who wouldn’t have anything to do with the industry, and then you’d have the online gambling industry cast as THE villain.

Here in the industry we’d like to think that even if we had to be cast as a villain that it’d be one that’s a cool one. An anti-hero that wins a fair amount of their battles, and is idolized by kids for being, well, just cool!

A short film released in the India doesn’t cast the online gambling industry as anything at all.

The film centres around cyber crime and the fact that it needs further recognition. One of the scenarios involves a 13-year-old online gambling addict who is then bullied by some of his fellow peers.

Cyber bullies are the worst kind. They can’t even pluck up the courage to have a pop at people face to face and probably don’t realize how much damage they’re causing the person on the other end. We’re not talking about you trash talking a little bit, this is full blown bullying that takes place a lot more than people like to let on.

According to Indian newspaper The Hindu, the film, is entitled “The world and cyber crime,” and is made by P. Vasanthakumaran.

“The victim should notify the concerned authorities, and companies should not hesitate to approach law enforcement firms to fight cyber crime,” he said.

Whether there’ll be an English version we don’t know, but hats off to Mr V for tackling the problem head-on.
