It was hard enough to put yourself through the picture of Simon Cowell’s smug face this weekend as his pockets bulged even more than his crotch does when he thinks of another buzz cut, without the two outside broadcasts coming from two places that had quite possibly the most annoying hosts in live television history.
None of this is ITV’s fault. They simply provide us with the incomparable Dermot O’Leary, who I would like to become friends with if he ever says “The winner of the X Factor…is…” and after waiting 30 seconds simply says DERMOT! We’re getting away from the case in point though. Colchester, Essex where the winner Matt Cardle hails from, was where we found “Queen of the jungle” Stacey Solomon. Now anyone that’s heard Stacey will know how indecipherable her voice can be, and when she’s excited, it’s even worse.
Liverpool was another notch up from this though. Runner up Rebecca Ferguson’s crowd included all her family, and was hosted by Wayne Rooney’s other half, Coleen. My main gripe with this was that Coleen actually allowed Wayne some space to breath. Don’t come crying to us when you find out he was out for the night with the hookers!
The winner releases Biffy Clyro’s “Many of Horror”, and as we’ve seen already has a fair few opponents trying to dethrone Cowell from this year’s top spot as happened last year with Rage Against the Machine. Sunday we will see which song hits top spot but if the silence gets it, will we get a tribute concert like last year?
