The holiday season is upon us and one gift has technophiles, hipsters and business-minded suits waiting with baited breath, for Apple’s largely needless yet thoroughly cool tablet computer, the iPad. Yet while many iPad owners will use the portable device for little besides surfing Facebook and making the people on the flight home jealous, Jackpot City has provided another use for the chic gadget – online gambling.
Based out of Gibraltar, Jackpot City has unveiled their new online gambling app built specifically for the iPad’s unique interface and featuring a collection of games uniquely designed for the device, including Blackjack, Baccarat, Mega Moolah and Tomb Raider.
The free software allows users to take their gambling experience on the road, and is fully compatible with a player’s existing account.
Apple had initially been hesitant to allow third party developers to create gambling applications for their iPhone/iPad operating systems. Yet as the iGaming industry rushed into the mobile market the company needed to establish a presence or lag behind what is emerging as a strong source of revenue.
