Was Apple’s first computer meant for the devil?

first-ever-appleIt might not be on the same level as the first ever dildo or even the discovery that man descended from monkeys all those years ago but you can be sure that Apple are secretly smirking away at the latest news.

An auction in London yesterday saw the company’s first ever computer, Apple I, sell for £133,250 at Christie’s. This was a significant mark-up on the original devilish price of $666.66. I can’t say that I was around in 1976 but was Apple’s first computer’s pricing policy some kind of dig at the Christian religion? Were they hoping to crack the market in hell?

Unfortunately it was apparently down to co-founder Steve Wosniak’s love for repeating digits. That’s not anywhere near as interesting, guys.

The auction was won by an Italian called Marco Boglione, who plans to return it to its original working condition alongside his collection of Apple computers. Is this simply an attempt by Mr Boglione to reach his five fruit a day quota? In all honesty I very much doubt that’s the case, but for the price he paid he could buy a cart load of MacBook Pros, iPads, iPhone, iPods, or i(whatever he wants). Maybe he wants to try cracking the original Apple I to allow gambling to take place on the machine though? We sure as hell hope so!
