Which golfer enjoys gamblin’ drinkin’ and carryin’ on?

graeme-mcdowell-drinkingIf you’ve spent the year backing Graeme McDowell and his weird hybrid American/Irish accent then it’s highly likely you are in the money. The Northern Irishman not only won his first major, he also sank the winning putt at the Ryder Cup, and is now on course to win the European Money List ahead of German Martin Kaymer.

If him being a top class golfer wasn’t enough McDowell has now revealed something that endears him ever further to the public, and especially us here at the tablog.

“I like going to Happy Valley,” he said Wednesday, ahead of an evening excursion to Hong Kong’s historic racecourse. “A cool beer and gambling — that’s my scene, believe it or not.”

Is this guy the coolest golfer since it was revealed Tiger Woods is indeed quite the wild-child, or what?!

Looks like McDowell really does live up to our gamblin’ drinkin’ and carryin’ on mantra, and it’s high time golf had one of these characters. We’ve all seen Darren Clarke and Miguel Angel Jimenez parading round the course with a cigar wherever possible so the question to ponder is this: when did golf suddenly become the coolest and most fun sport in the world?
