Taylor sets out stall at Bodog.com World Grand Prix darts first day

taylorIf a pie shop stocked a pie for every single sport ever conceived then you’d be pretty sure Bodog would have had their nibble of that pie at some point in the history of the sport. Only this weekend Bodog.net announced an advertising deal with the LA Galaxy to display advertising at the team’s Home Depot Centre, and this after Bodog Europe CEO, and ice hockey fanatic, Patrik Selin, had seen a deal signed with the Edmonton Oilers ice hockey team. This had all followed the deal already signed by Bodog.com to sponsor the World Grand Prix Darts in Dublin, which began yesterday at the City West Hotel.

The undisputed best player in the world, Phil “The Power” Taylor made no mistake as he beat the local Brendan Dolan, not even giving the Irishman a shot at a double as the Power looked to a man as if he will be walking out of the City West Hotel Convention Centre £100,000 come the final. Elsewhere a thrilling match between eighth seeded Ronnie Baxter and Gary Anderson saw the seed crash out, as well as fourth seeded Mervyn King, who lost out to Wayne Jones.

The number two and three seeds, Raymond van Barneveld and James Wade, take part in today’s action, which can be seen on Sky Sports.
