It’s been a hot topic around net…Sesame Street, you know that show that parents make their kids watch while they gamble online? The one with the guy that lives in the garbage can and that big yellow bird? Loved that show…Sesame Street had originally planned to air a cleaned up version of Katy Perry’s pop song Hot N Cold with Elmo, but after common sense kicked in, they then flip flopped and flipped Perry the big bird.
Apparently the duet was too racy to be aired on Sesame Street, or Sesame Workshop as it is now mostly called. Parents complained that Perry’s outfit was too sexy for kids, as if kids know what sexy is. I guess no parent wanted to experience the nightmare of their young son pointing to his pants asking “Mommy, what’s happening to me?” You’re growing up son! Isn’t that what Sesame Street is all about? Kids can learn to count, read, and now after Katy Perry, they can learn what that weird thing between their legs and those strange two bumps on their chest are for. Seriously, what the fuck was Sesame Street thinking? Too sexy? What a surprise that the girl that was voted the number one sexiest female by Maxim is too sexy! We’re talking about Katy Perry who might go into a anaphylactic shock if she wore a bra! Is that pervert count Dracula running the show? Where’s Mr. Rogers when you need him?
To me, this project was doomed from the start. You can’t have a sex symbol like Katy Perry making appearances on Sesame Street. Seriously. Pretty sure a kindergarten girl running home to tell papa ” I kissed a girl and I liked it” isn’t what Sesame Workshop had in mind. Here’s a the canceled video, doesn’t look all that bad to me, aside from the excessive cleavage shots, which I appreciated, but then again, I guess cats like me aren’t the target audience.
