There is nothing like hitting the ground running…literally! Team Bodog is running to The Beat, the London-based ½ marathon on 26 September, and the newly London based BodogBecky (me) is going to run it with them.
The annual Run to the Beat ½ Marathon combines music with sport and provides a reason for runners, spectators, friends, family and fans to donate money to UK based charities. Throughout the course there are 14 music stages, six featuring live bands and eight featuring recorded music stations, and all featuring music that will pump up the crowd and the runners.
Team Bodog members Magnus, Amy, Mike, Tash and I are running the race for Beating Bowel Cancer and collectively our goal is to raise £1500 for the charity. Bowel cancer is the second biggest killer in the UK and 90% of bowel cancer cases can be successfully treated if diagnosed in time. Help raise awareness of the disease, educate the public on symptoms, promote early diagnosis and encourage open access to treatment choices by donating to the Beating Bowel Cancer charity.
And now for the fun stuff. If you’d like to come support Team Bodog on the 26th, please come join us at the Pilot Inn in Greenwich, the starting and finishing point of the race, and more importantly, the starting point of our boozing after the race. We’ve got a table booked at this 206 year old pub and we plan to BBQ and drink tons of beer all afternoon…is there any other way celebrate the completion of a 14 mile run?! I didn’t think so.
