World Cup triggers highest profile retirement

OctopusThe latest high-profile retirement following the World Cup was announced today, as Paul the Octopus will be put out to pasture. Paul’s success was unprecedented as he predicted all seven of Germany’s results correctly, and crowned it by choosing Spain to win the final. Bigger than any of these achievements though was inflicting defeat on Calvin Ayre, who succumbed to the eight legged being in the quarter-final. Octopus paella is now reportedly on the menu all round Spain as they toast last night’s victory. Read more.
