Despite multiple World Trade Organization rulings that America’s protectionist moves against Antigua-based online gambling businesses were unjustified and illegal, the U.S. has chosen to essentially thumb its nose at both Antigua and the international community as a whole. Given that it’s been six years since the WTO first ruled in Antigua’s favor without any kind of serious U.S. response, Antigua has appealed to the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) for support. Antigua’s president, Dr. Hon. Baldwin Spencer, says that while his nation remains committed to partnership with the U.S., it was equally committed to exploring all possibilities for a settlement, including economic sanctions.
