Saturday’s face-off between the Empire and those unruly colonials in a World Cup Group C tilt is turning into quite the attention-getter. For example, did you know cheerleaders were squaring off against Morris dancers outside Parliament the other day? (Both were equally hot, by the way, so does this mean the actual match will end in a draw?) US star Landon Donovan claims that with all the attention the match is generating stateside, “you might think that this was the World Cup final.” It ain’t, but given the usual profile the sport ‘enjoys’ in America, Saturday’s match is expected to draw a substantial viewing audience of “U-S-A” chanting fair-weather footie fans.
