According to the Demoines Register, gambling in Iowa is dead for the rest of the year because “discussions drifted toward ideas that were far too controversial, such as allowing online poker”. Right, poker. Controversial. Gambling in casinos would have been fine but poker – well that would have just bringing too much skill, I mean, controversy into the equation, wouldn’t it? “It’s looking extremely unlikely that we will have any gaming legislation passed this session,” harped House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy after stating that he no longer intends to file his proposed leadership bill.
