To add spit to injury, Tiger has been getting blasted through the online media for spitting on the putting green. I don’t belong to a country club, but from what I gather, in golf this is just something you don’t do.

My opinion, who cares? So he spat on the greens. He’s in a freaking dessert, it’s hot, it’s dry, he’s losing, he’s paired with the slowest golfer in the world in Sergio Garcia, he had to spit, cut the guy some slack. Maybe he swallowed a fly.

Spitting is aloud in almost every sport. It’s spitting on people that doesn’t go over so well, ask Roberto Alomar can vouch for that. Baseball players spit all day, hockey and NFL players too, it’s all good on those playing fields.

Are golf greens such hallowed ground that human saliva is forbidden? Tiger didn’t get that memo.

Again, in my humble opinion, the rules of spitting on the greens in golf should follow those in the bedroom, it’s optional, but swallowing is the preferred practice.
