PartyPoker haven’t been having the best of times over the past few months. First they took it upon themselves to sign up an Italian goalkeeper who’s almost as old as the Pope, Gianluigi Buffon, to promote their brand in Italy. After this it was announced that their revenues had dropped off by anything between 11% and 13% in quarter two of 2010. Meanwhile the Colonel put him on his hit-list for being drunk inside one of his Kentucky based eateries.

This all coming before the big announcement – their parent company, PartyGaming’s tie up with Bwin will mean the creation of a new company name – chosen in a poll of company directors to be Pwin. Not so much of a party anymore at PG HQ.

What have PartyPoker done to try and get out of this hole then? Gone on a lads knees up to Ibiza? No. Extreme sports holiday in the Scottish highlands? Try again.

Ok we’ll tell ya. They’ve launched Double Hold-Em poker in their website, meaning that you receive start a hand with three cards instead of the usual two.

Typo! Was supposed to read ‘French online gaming fails at spelling bee’, very sorry about that!

It all came about after it was a reported a new player had entered the French online gaming market in the shape of ACT Poker.fr, which sounded exactly like a cheap Eastern rip-off of ACF Poker.fr. That’s how the frogs labeled it anyway. Russian mafia had decided that time was ripe to immerse themselves in the French online poker market, but of course this wasn’t true. Just a typo after the fifth grader on work experience impressed them so much they gave him a little too much responsibility. It was aforementioned ACF Poker.fr they were aiming for. Oh well, at least it gave everyone a little bit of excitement for a few moments. Read more.

The works basically. Then it gets to the day and the odd person drops out, but people are still coming, surely? Well until everyone has something come up, and cancels.

PartyGaming Chief Executive Jim Ryan seemed to be carrying this host mantra after last week Bwin cancelled on him, but was optimistic enough to say, “Whilst progress on consolidating the online gaming industry has been slower than expected, we remain committed to playing an active role.” Surely PartyGaming’s gathering would be the kind of social event to attend though? Read more

After becoming one of the operators who can now offer online poker in France, the company have gone a step further by switching currency from the American dollar to the Euro.
