    Paddy in this video is the grandson of the founder who also had the same name.  They are a public company so are not really a classical family business any longer,  though his dad is still on the board and he himself works there, so they must still be shareholders.  Just wanted to clarify this as that closing statement gave an erroneous impression that this is the guy the company is named after.  In fact the Paddy Powers in the clip and the company are both named after the same person…his grandfather.   

    Sorry if I got any of this wrong Paddy :-)

    Love it!! Calvin, only you would catch this :) However, while we’re on the subject, I actually believe it was Paddy’s great grandfather, Richard Power, that started the business in the late 1800′s (you’ll hear from Paddy Power himself (ha) in our full 1 on 1 interview which will be released soon hopefully!) Richard then passed on the business to his son, Paddy, who was in only involved for a short while so then his son David Powers (now on the board) took over.  David’s son, Paddy Power, is the Communications Director for Paddy Power PLC and the one I interview in this video.  You are right Calvin that Paddy’s birth name is Patrick and the name “Paddy” in Paddy Power PLC was chosen because it’s classically Irish.  whew.  I think I got that right!
