With the iPhone 4S flying off shelves across the world, you’d think Apple’s major rival Samsung would be hard at work compiling nothing but a hard-punching marketing campaign to build hype for the imminent Galaxy Nexus release in the states this month, right? Wrong. Well, it’s is probably doing that regardless, but Samsung seems to be putting its efforts into the Samsung vs Apple war, with a commercial which mocks the iPhone and in turn promotes number one rival; its very own Galaxy SII handset.
As an obvious Apple dig, the video is entitled The next big thing is already here and paints those waiting in line for hours with the hope of buying an iPhone as brainwashed consumer drones. It’s not too far from the truth. But it comes across just as smug than the ostensible Apple-Asshole trope they’re playing off of, while also seeming a little jealous. Obviously, in reality, Samsung would be thrilled to have people regularly lining up to buy its phones.
When you think about it, it’s pretty strange for Samsung mock the iPhone considering how it is the maker of many parts crammed into the device? Ahh well, it’s all to do with publicity stunts and marketing strategies these days.
Nevertheless, a good way to get back at Apple after their patent lawsuits and injunctions blocking Samsung products sales in various countries. Here’s the video:
Samsung might be right to poke holes in Apple’s iPhone 4S, as since its release not everything has been hunky dory. First of all, there was the battery drain problem, with Apple releasing a bug shortly after that reportedly made it worse. Then last week, there were streams of complaints focusing on Wi-Fi connectivity.
Those who have a 4S and have so far managed to come away unscaved are not out of the woods yet. Yep – there’s yet another potential problem to worry about. Reports today have detailed how some 4S owners claim they are experiencing SIM card failures time and again.
The SIM stutter seems to target only those who have the latest iOS 5.0.1 operating system version running, but if, like most, you like to keep up to date, then it doesn’t sound too promising. The afflicted group of this unfortunate mishap have reported frequent error messages detailing “invalid SIM”, never mind the fact that the same SIM card on other phones work without any problem at all. Sigh.
Apple needs to deliver a fix real soon, and for everyone of the 4S woes. With Samsung throwing taunting commercials at Apple alongside complaints swarming across numerous forums about battery life, failed updates, wifi and now the SIM card, is it all going tits up? We’re sure it’s only left Apple screaming “what would Steve Jobs’ have done?!”
