Good news for iGamers on the go, it seems leaked information from an Asian source states that an iPad 3 is likely to reach our Apple-adoring hands in five months time. So come March – not only will we be welcomed by warmer weather, daffodils and lambs bounding jovially across meadows bursting with colour, but more importantly – we’ll be able to get our greasy fingers all over the new version of the iPad 2. It will be ours for the taking (for a substantial price, of course).
However, this is all according to a “reliable” source on a Japanese blog Macotakara. And with this ever-so enlightening report, there’s also the bad news that it will feature a smaller dock connector – rendering all back-compatibility with existing iPad accessories useless. Not a concern for those whose first iPad will be the third generation. But not so good news if you’re fancying yourself an upgrade from a previous model come Spring time. Pipin’ ’eck.
Of course, there’s a chance this could all be speculation, but if it isn’t, it will dispel rumours of an iPad mini incoming. The gossip also suggests that the iPad 3 is being rushed into production to avoid Chinese New Year celebrations from 22-28 January. So before the end of January, we should be seeing Chinese factories churning out devices…
Other iPad 3 rumours from yet more “trustworthy” sources have stated that the new iPad will boast a retina display – that would be an increased screen resolution of 2,048×1,536-pixel from the iPad 2’s 1,024×768-pixels – a feature that is present in iPhone 4, 4S and new gen iPod Touchs. Code found in Apple’s new iOS5 suggests that this is possible, so it’s very likely. It would make sordid web-browsing, dirty movie watching and debauched around-the-clock online gaming even more deliciously engaging. Being on one of the most sleek looking tabs on the market it’s a shame that the source says the screen will stay the same size as the iPad 2 – we’d love to see an extending viewing area to enhance all our gaming needs.
Though sites like this, from sources like this, with rumours like this, have certainly got it all wrong before. Note how one ill-informed source sent Asian phone cover manufactures in to production with new cases for a non-existant iPhone 5.
A March release date is probably the most solid to place your bets on, as it would come a year after the iPad 2 release. And you know how Apple like to time their launches. Saying that, the latest iPhone launch was four months behind what everyone expected.
Let’s hope those stupid resized dock connector reports aren’t correct, how annoying would that be? Do you have an iPad and are you thinking of upgrading? How annoyed would you be if this was the case? Have a rant, go on. It’ll make you feel better.
