apple vs googleSnippets of a forthcoming Steve Jobs autobiography (called Steve Jobs) attest that the late Apple co-founder was willing to spend his “last dying breath” to destroy Google’s Android system. It also notes how he would “spend every penny of Apple’s $40 billion in the bank” if that’s what it took to do so.

In a report by the Washington Post, the book’s biographer, Walter Issacson, said Jobs told him: “I’m going to destroy Android, because it’s a stolen product. I’m willing to go thermonuclear war on this,” following the launch of a new Anroid-powered HTC handset in 2010.

The full extent of Job’s animosity towards the major search engine’s mobile operating system – and how it made him furious – is revealed in the holy grail of Google-disgust planned to go on sale on Monday.

Once upon a time, tech giants Apple and Google used to be the best of buds, with Google’s chief executive – now chairman – Eric Schmidt sitting on the board of Apple. That was until 2007, when Google unveiled its Android system only 10-months after Apple released the iPhone. After that, all hell broke loose and Jobs took the Android development as a betrayal. Schmidt had served on Apple’s board all the way through the launch of the iPhone though, so it’s no surprise that he felt this way. Schmidt had behind the scenes, watching Apple bake its innovative crumble, while all the time he was thieving ideas and taking them home to craft his very own robot-themed version out of them. How cunning.

With Job’s describing Android’s similarity to Apple’s iOS as “grand theft” – it only helps to give us a better understanding of why Apple are going injunction crazy with their recent aggressive-natured court orders against Android carriers such as Samsung and Motorola.

This alone proves that Apple are powering their “thermonuclear war” against Google in the name of Steve Jobs. What do you think will be their next point of attack? Google has just announced a new music service to rival iTunes, what will we see next in the combat of the tech giants?
