Watch out for space junk

spaceshipYou know you’re having a bad day when you get hit by- space junk?

It could happen tomorrow.

According to a report from CNN International, NASA expects a satellite to drop out of orbit and crash into Earth sometime Friday afternoon.

So for all the chaps across the pond with bad karma coming their way, Friday afternoon might be a good day to stay indoors. Better yet, take the day off, tell your boss your karma levels are too low and you’re worried about your safety- then party like a Rock Star tonight.

According to NASA, not all of the satellite will burn up in the atmosphere and the remaining debris isn’t expected to fall on North American soil. Where exactly the space junk will crash land has not been determined.

According to Fox News, back in January of 1997 Lottie Williams became the only person in history to ever get hit by falling space junk, but she got hit with a piece about the size of an empty soda can and lived to tell about.

So- space junk is careening towards the Earth and going to crash land sometime Friday afternoon, and NASA hasn’t narrowed down exactly where? Not all that comforting.

It’s a little too convenient that the space junk isn’t expected to land over North America.

Imagine getting hit by space junk. You wake up one morning and you have a 70 ton satellite sitting on top of the pieces of crushed metal and custom leather that used to be your beamer.

According to NASA scientists, given the speed the debris will be travelling it’s very difficult to predict exactly where it will hit, but they hope the area will be unpopulated.

According to CNN International, NASA has identified 26 pieces they expect to survive the Earth’s atmosphere, ranging in size from around 10 pounds to hundreds of pounds.

Go help an old lady cross the street, have sex with a fat girl, or give to charity, just hope and pray your karma isn’t at a point where one of those pieces has your name on it.

I just recently read that Neil Armstrong commented that US space program these days is “embarrassing”. Coming from the first man who stepped on the Moon, gud’ol NASA should do some beefing up.
