party-poker-rakePartyPoker is changing its rake structure, effective Wednesday (Aug. 24). Under the old ‘dealt’ method, players were credited with a raked hand if they were dealt cards, regardless of how far they played those cards. Under the new ‘weighted contributed’ plan, players are credited with the proportion of rake they personally contribute, so loose players who shove bigger stacks into the pot will get credited with generating more rake than their tight-fisted table mates. This has extra ramifications in terms of generating Party Points, as PartyPoker awards two Points for each dollar in rake a player generates.

In July, Titan Poker cut rake fees at its most popular tables by as much as 50%, possibly because Titan felt it needed to go on a diet before gorging itself on birthday cake. Yes, the iPoker network site is about to turn six years old. To celebrate, Titan is offering a slough of promotions throughout the month of September, including a Heads-Up Championship, ‘Mystery Week Giveaways’, and a $6k 6th Anniversary Freeroll on Oct. 6.

Daniel Negreanu might not be sweet on the Epic Poker League, but he’s far more fond of his new poker-playing girlfriend, Krisztina Polgár (pictured below). Could it have something to do with her being Miss Earth Hungary 2008? For those who may not be aware, Miss Earth is an environmentally friendly beauty pageant, which probably dovetails nicely with Kid Poker’s card-carrying vegan sensibilities. The two lovebirds met at this past World Series of Poker, and Negreanu recently gushed to QuadJacks.com that she was “super cool.” Depending on the level of one’s cynicism, that’s either an ‘Awww’ moment or sufficient grounds to reach for the air sickness bag.
