amy winehouseTragic news hit the music world over the weekend, when soulful singer Amy Winehouse was found dead in her apartment in London. Winehouse was another young entertainer who had been battling multiple addictions and her death is a tragic end to a promising entertainment career.

A strange coincidence was the age the in which Winehouse passed. Winehouse was only 27, but she joins a rather peculiar long list of celebrities to depart at 27 years old.

Consider the coincidence that Kurt Cobain, Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison, Jimi Hendrix and Amy Winehouse all died at the age of 27. For the hard core hip hop fans, you can add Fat Pat and Freaky Tah to that list as well.

Lewis Brian Hopkin Jones was an English guitarist who performed with the Rolling Stones, died on 3 July 1969, he was also 27. Perhaps even more bizarre was that both Jimi Hendrix and Jim Morrison who are also on this list, dedicated songs to him.

Other notable famous people that passed at the age of 27 include US NFL stud and Patriots hero Pat Tillman, Andres Escobar- the Columbian soccer player killed for his own goal in World Cup competition, American actor Jonathan Brandis and the guy who killed Versace, Andrew Cunanan.

Could be chance, most likely it’s coincidence, but it is rather peculiar why so many big names are on this list. Regardless of the circumstances surrounding the deaths of the entertainers on this list, like Amy Winehouse, their lives should be celebrated and not mourned.
