Bodog UK license

Following John Penrose’s announcement that the UK’s gambling proposals were to be amended, Bodog has become the first bookmaker to gain the correct approvals to operate under the new regulations. Bodog UK received the remote and non-remote gaming license from the UK Gambling Commission and the site will operate from Bodog.co.uk exclusively for customers in the UK.

Upon the news, Bodog UK CEO Patrik Selin, said, “Holding a licence granted by the world’s most robust and respected regulatory regime is a huge springboard from which Bodog UK can launch. The credibility and trust that the UK already enjoys in the online gaming industry is immeasurable. To be able to launch Bodog UK with these licences in place is a huge bonus for us and not only will it benefit our customers but will also allow us to attract the best talent in the industry to work with us.”

Being able to operate unhinged in the jurisdiction that is home to the centre of the iGaming universe, London, is extremely beneficial. As we said earlier on this week, the changes made by the government will shift the balance of power in the industry and if the major European brands don’t fall in line with a legitimate strategy alarm bells could be ringing.

Anyone that doesn’t have one of these licenses will risk future factors such as lucrative football shirt sponsorship deals and advertising contracts.

We expect there now to be a veritable stampede of reputable companies that jump on the UK Gambling Commission’s bandwagon and follow the lead of Bodog UK.

It was pretty smart of Patrik to start this process a year ago and get a license before the rules change.  Expect all the operators who are using less credible licenses like Gibraltar to jump on this band wagon now.  Now that Bodog UK has the most credible license in the world this will put pressure on others to step up their credibility to the world class bodog level.

I am sure Bodog UK will like taking over some more shirt deals on the cheap if others can not get licensed.

the UK is really the most credible licence in the world? Well, it's more credible than any in the northern hemisphere at least….

I would call it the most credible online gaming license in the world.  Can you suggest one that has the traditions and credibility of the UK?

    Well done Bodog !!

Shirt deals on the cheap would not likely happen, having 2 teams (in the same league) with the same sponsor… No Way!

Also Gibraltar is British and without questioning Bodog's credibility (because I think it's one of the best brands there is) it's a move made by the Uk commission without looking at recent events, which have made them look at the changes in the first place.

Just a joke on the shirt deals :-)

But I stand by my other point…the UK is the top credibility license in the world for online gaming.  They don't even know what Gibraltar is in China.

188bet = Bolton and Wigan 2010/2011 season… and betting partner with quite a few of the top clubs

ya, I know it is possible but was still just a joke :-)

          Joke on me then ;)

Just so its clear…a new entity called Bodog UK that Patrik set up has the license.  It is a stand alone organization that will target UK players and they license the brand from me only.  Go to bodogBrand.com if you need more detail on this.

This has nothing to do with Alwyn Morriss' Morris Mohawk Gaming Group who also have a brand license from me and operate with a Kahnawake license.

Excellent, thanks for clearing that up Calvin, appreciate it…even if my first comment was edited :-) but now i know why.
