If I knew I was going to be having this much fun at age 50, I certainly wouldn’t have acted so upset the day I turned 20 (when I expected my life would begin its long, pitiful decline). It’s been a great and crazy life so far, and with medical science being what it is, you can now live a healthy life for many, many years past 50. With this half-century milestone in my rearview mirror, I intend to start living even larger… wake boarding like a Tasmanian devil, partying like a Viking and shagging like a porn star. (Not necessarily in that order.)
The last few years have truly been the best of my life. Once I retired from being an executive of any companies, my life undeniably improved. I thought I would miss the day-to-day maelstrom that comes from wielding executive responsibility, but no. Now all I do is travel around the world and spend a bit of time each day online, tracking a number of trends that are of interest to me. I use this information to try to predict where the online gaming industry is going and then publish these predictions right here on my media site.
These days, I spend most of my time in Europe and Asia, as these are considered the hubs of today’s online gaming industry. I now consider Manila and London ‘home’, much as I used to consider Costa Rica, Antigua and Vancouver. But I’m not actually in any one location for long. These days, my life unfolds pretty much in perpetual motion.

This year because of my big five-oh, I decided to do two birthday parties, one to coincide with the first anniversary of the global online gaming industry media site that bears my name, then a second one for friends and family. The party in Dublin (held on my birthday, May 25th) was a feature of the iGamingSupershow and hosted close to 1000 industry sorts over the course of one very raucous evening. Most of you reading this are familiar with this crazy party, but if not, I invite you to check out the video.
But the real party I was looking forward to was the two-day blowout I had scheduled for June 15th/16th in Santa Ana, Costa Rica. Friends and family flew in from all over the world for this party, which started at an exclusive private residence in the hills above Ezcazu. It was pirate-themed and I had a video camera there so you can come back here and see the extent of the debauchery yourself in a week or so. In the meantime, just use your imagination, as it had pretty much all the usual things any self respecting pirate party would!

When the sun rose the next morning, the action shifted to an all-day pool party at the industry’s most famous home, the Bodog Compound. I personally designed this residence as the optimal party venue, especially pool parties. In order to protect the (not so) innocent, I did not film this one, but I have included a few of the tamer photos. Attendance at this party was a lot thinner than the first day, the casualty list a testament to how hard everyone went at ‘er on Day One.
And when I say casualties, I’m not just talking hangovers. At my parties there are real injuries. There was one separated shoulder, a broken tooth (pictured right), a broken toe and tons of scratches and bruises — and that’s not even getting into all the bruised pride when guys woke up and were informed of their antics the night before. But these are the terms you accept when you accept an invitation to an event that I organize, especially one on this scale.
With these parties behind me, I plan to spend the rest of the summer city- and resort-hopping. I’m getting back to what I do best, travelling and carrying on. I have a long list of places I want to hit, most of which I have never experienced before. I will post some pictures from my travels on Facebook for everyone who is interested in following my crazy life. But for now, I sign off with a toast to all my friends in the online gaming world… It’s been quite a ride so far and the end is nowhere in sight!
