All those frugal folk that have waited for the new Apple iPhone to come out will blow their collective load come September. According to Bloomberg, two sources close to the matter have revealed that the latest release will boast a stronger chip and more advanced camera in order to set itself out from the rest of the smart phone field.
The new device will closely resemble the iPhone 4 and include the same A5 processor that Apple added to the iPad 2 earlier this year. The camera upgrade will see the phone benefit from an 8-megapixel camera and the new processor upgrade will help it compete with the likes of Samsung’s high-end Android devices.
It’s also thought that the phone will run on Apple’s iOS 5 that was previewed earlier this month. Put simply, the new iPhone will be music to the ears of consumers and developers alike. The only people that might get a little worried are the likes of Android and especially Research in Motion (RIM).
The same source also had exciting information on the lower end device that’s being developed in an attempt to crack markets in developing countries. It’ll be like a cat scratching a blackboard to those at Nokia. Early reports point to it having the same characteristics as the current iPhone 4 meaning those in developing countries are in for quite the treat. Whether their networks will be able to cope is another matter.
Apple still has a job on its hands to make inroads into Android’s global hold of the smart phone market. Any new device they bring out usually sees demand outstrip supply and the final quarter of 2011 will be a successful one for Jobs and co.
