beckys_bender_macauThe Fourth Annual iGaming Asia Congress takes place next week in Macau, China, an island of indulgence that has been dubbed the “Vegas of the West”. For those of you who have yet to visit Macau, take it from me, this place is nothing like Vegas apart from the fact that you can gamble and it’s not hard to find an escort.

Unlike Vegas, the Macau club scene is still growing and somewhat hard to find if you are not a local and do not speak Chinese. To help guide the virgin Eastern conference delegate crowd, last year I researched a few hotspots to recommend and I’ve done the same this year with the help of Ros from Beacon Events, the iGaming Asia Congress conference organizer. Have fun and behave!

Tuesday, 1 March

What: Pre-registration cocktails
Where: Grand Hyatt Hotel
When: 16:30-18:00
Pick up your registration badge and get drunk while doing it! iGaming Asia Congress organizers have arranged a cocktail networking session after the Search & Social Media Marketing Pre-Conference Seminar, a perfect opportunity to catch up with old friends and make some new ones.

What: Post-conference drinks
Where: Exhibit Hall
When: 17:30-19:00
Enjoy a complimentary cocktail or two after a long day of attending sessions and working the conference floor.

What:
Food and drinks in memory of Ted Loh
Where: McSorley’s, Venetian
When: 19:30-22:00
Cost: HK 500 & includes drinks and bar snacks
Ted Loh, aka Spearmaster, was an industry pioneer and great friend to many in the iGaming industry. Ted lost a battle to cancer in December of 2010 and leaves behind his wife, four children, more family and a lot of friends. The organizers of iGaming Asia Congress would like to invite you for a night of food and drink in memory of Ted and the proceeds from the evening will to straight to Ted’s bereaved family.

macau_ladies_nightWhat: Ladies night!
Where: Bellini’s, Venetian Hotel
When: 22:30-??
While ladies night at Bellini’s is not an official iGaming Asia Congress party, I did hear directly from the organizers that this is the most likely spot where everyone will end up later…the booze are free for ladies from 22:00-1:00 after all!

Thursday, 3 March

What:
Macau Tour
Where: All over the island
When: 17:30-19:00
For those who are not familiar with this Vegas of the West, take a tour through the casinos, landmarks, and the Macau-Zhubai border and get familiarized!

What: Official iGaming Asia Congress Party
Where: Playboy Club, Sands Hotel
When: 21:00-late
Shanghai may have rejected Hugh Heffner’s application, but Macau certainly didn’t! The second Playboy Club in the world just recently opened its doors in Macau and it is full of luxury, Playboy branding, private gaming rooms and of course, plenty of Playboy Bunnies. Join iGaming Asia Congress delegates at this exquisite venue and see where the night takes you…I’m pretty sure it will not end there!
