Construction suspended at Tiger Woods Dubai

contruction-suspended-at-tiger-woods-dubaiAs arguably one of the biggest scandals in the world of sport in 2010 involved him, Tiger Woods was probably hoping that the New Year would give him a fresh start. The fact that the golf season starts as early in the year as any other sport means that he isn’t afforded any kind of protection. It’s not only on the course where he’s being shunned though.

It probably doesn’t have a massive amount to do with his rabid sexual appetite, but a golf resort being constructed under his name has been suspended until further notice.

Dubai Properties, part of the ruler of Dubai’s business empire, has cited “poor market condition for luxury” as the reason they’ve had to suspend construction of Tiger Woods Dubai.

“This decision was based on current market conditions that do not support high-end luxury real estate. These conditions will continue to be monitored and a decision will be made in the future when to restart the project,” said a Dubai Properties statement.

Tiger’s commercial agreement with the group will remain in place, but this won’t be good news for the player as he tries to get his career back on track.

As far as playing golf goes, StanJames have unveiled odds on Woods being pushed out of the top five in the world later this year.

Communications manager, Gary McGibbon, said, “It was the first time Woods had finished outside the top 10 finishers in a tournament at Torrey Pines, over the weekend, which might not bode well for the remainder of the year.”

“Woods has already dropped to number 3 in the world behind Lee Westwood and Martin Kaymer after failing to win a tournament in 2010. Not only that, he’s got a whole host of players including Britain’s Graeme McDowell and Paul Casey not far behind him in the rankings, so unless Woods ups his game he could well see his ranking drop further.”
