ladbrokes-webis-leroys-app-androidWebis Holdings has reported mixed results for the six-month period ending Nov. 30. Despite increased turnover, the Group’s pari-mutuel business, European Wagering Services, did not meet expectations. Blame for this is largely attributed to the company’s difficulty in obtaining stable payment processing services, however, the company claims a solution has since been implemented and is performing satisfactorily. Meanwhile, the company’s betinternet.com returned to profitability following the World Cup, but the company is ‘reviewing its strategy’ for the sportsbook all the same. Full data for the period will be released in Feb. 2011.

After quitting Oddschecker cold turkey last month, Ladbrokes have decided to try another month on the wagon and see how bad the withdrawal pains get. A company spokesman told eGaming Review that Lads would be assessing the impact of their pull-out before deciding whether to (a) head back down to the local to drink with their former mates, or (b) stay at home on the sofa with their new 888 bird, watching that crap remake of Upstairs Downstairs. Or maybe they’re just tired of trying to close the gap between themselves and the private company that’s made Oddschecker their bitch, Bet365.

Finally, the Nevada Gaming Control Board has announced that Leroy’s App, American Wagering’s mobile sportsbetting product, has successfully passed its field trial. The app, which works on Blackberry smartphones, uses geo-tracking to permit Nevada residents to place sports bets from anywhere within state borders. With that hurdle overcome, American Wagering has submitted a new app to the Control Board for approval, this one operating on the fast growing Android platform.
