media-corp-auction-domain-acquisitionDespite announcing boffo year-end numbers just a week ago, Media Corp has retained Sedo GmbH (Sedo) to help sell off Media Corp’s wholly owned Gambling.com domain. Media Corp claims to have received multiple inquiries as to the domain’s availability, including ‘a number of very significant indicative offers’, but the company’s Board thinks public auction is the way to go.

Media Corp CEO Justin Drummond stated that the company was actually flush at the moment, but was seeking ‘significant financial resources’ to take advantage of ‘a number of exciting acquisition opportunities in the online gambling and online advertising space.’ Hmmm… Wonder if Sportingbet would take a meeting…

Sedo recently handled the sale of Sex.com for $13m. Rival auction outfit Snapnames handled the Bodog Brand’s purchase of Slots.com for $5.5m in May of this year. It will be very interesting to see where Gambling.com ranks on that lofty barometer. And don’t forget, the year of the domain names still has another month to go!

Kudos on the purchase of slots.com! However these guys are not selling Bodog the future but the past.
They are focusing on the ascii market which is saturated and limited. If Bodog is really serious with their plans for the future, drop me a note. Here is a quick piece of statistics which speaks for itself.
    Slots*:
Search results in Google 35,000,000. Google Global Monthly Searches: 6,120,000

    One of our names:
Search results in Google: 436,000,000. Google Global Monthly Searches: 37,000,000
