Day 2 at the WPT World Poker Finals at the Foxwoods Resort Casino in Connecticutt concluded with just 69 players remaining from the original field of 242. Kyle Bowker is chip leader with 260k, but Josh Arieh is right on his tail at 258k, with Bryon Springer, Gavin Smith, Ben Klier and Todd Freeman all over 200k as well. The total prize pool is $2.2m, with the champ’s share set at $548k. Those hitting the rail on Day 2 included November Niner John Dolan, Shannon Shorr, Matt Stout and Vanessa Selbst. Day 3 kicks off at noon EST as we whittle things down to the final table.
Two players that have never made a WPT final table are Matt Graham and Michael Binger. Graham has twice earned WSOP bracelets, while Binger came third at the 2006 WSOP Main Event, but they and Billy ‘Patrolman35’ Kopp were recently cut from UB.com’s pro roster. Perhaps the company has more pressing matters on its mind than contract renegotiation, but at least Annie Duke, Phil Hellmuth and Joe Sebok are still under contract.
