Anyone who has ever been to Miami and South Beach knows there’s definitely some serious talent going on down there. And while LA used to be the star studded capital of the US and the show time city, Miami may just be bumping Hollywood off it’s pedestal.
Nevermind the media circus surrounding the Miami Heat instead of the LA Lakers, when you look at the nations biggest sport, the NFL, Miami is the show king in that area as well. The Dolphins ownership group led by majority owner Stephen Ross is as star studded as it can get. Ross made Marc Anthony and super-couple Gloria and Emilio Estefan minority owners and Ross also added tennis superstar Serena Williams, as a limited partner. The effect is that the Dolphins games are the place where anybody who is anybody has to be.
For their last home game, the Dolphins saw Kim Kardashian and Anna Kournikova among the celebrity notables in attendance to watch the game, and heard Fergie and Anthony sing the National Anthem. Half-time was epic, as the Miami crowd was treated to a sensational Enrique Inglesia half-time performance.
Once the basketball season starts up, Miami will have two major sports for which major hype and major celebrity support will be in effect.
You can’t have that many highrollers in one place without gambling. Miami casinos might be reaping the benefits of the city’s booming sports teams and celebrity presence. And for the regular Miami citizens, it’s just another reason to head to the Seminole or some other venue and get their drinkin, gamblin and celebrity spotting on.
