Let’s face it, big time poker company CEOs are two-dimensional figures. You might see their photo in the gambling media or read some random quote they made, but in terms of actual ‘in the flesh’ sightings, they may as well be sasquatches. All except one — Bodog Network CEO Patrik Selin.
For the record, Patrik’s not a sasquatch (although, now that we think of it, he is a pretty big guy), but he is the only major poker network CEO who regularly buys-in and takes his seat at prestigious tournaments. Patrik finished in the money at the 2006 WSOP, and more recently, played in the 2010 EPT Monaco event, where he was knocked out by none other than Shaun Deeb.
Now Patrik is set to take part in Friday’s action at the WSOP Europe in London (despite some timid competitor having bribed French air traffic controllers into disrupting European air travel and waylaying Patrik in an airport lounge). So who will get to play Shaun Deeb’s spoiler role this time around? Who will get the satisfaction of knocking a big time poker network CEO off his pedestal? Or, will Patrik become the first big time poker network CEO to win the WSOP Europe title? Watch this space…
