It may have entered the English dictionary, and be one of the items on every child’s Christmas list, but UEFA don’t like it one bit – and I’m not talking about a resurgence in Tellytubbies and Tamagotchis.
Unfortunately European football’s governing body have taken it upon themselves to ban vuvuzelas from all Champions League, Europa League, and Euro 2012 qualifiers as they would ‘drown supporter emotion.’ Nothing like drowning supporter emotion with people creating more noise. Does that go hand-in-hand with highly exorbitant ticket prices, and prolonged group stages to gain more cash for UEFA’s coffers? Thought not. Read more.
