As of Sept. 1, Victor Chandler will shut down its Gibraltar-based phone betting operation. The customer care lines will still function, but the bookmaker will no longer be accepting wagers over the phone, unless you’re a high-roller willing to put down a bundle when you pick up the receiver. Vic has justified the closure by claiming that 97% of his action now comes via online or mobile bets, which he says offer enhanced value.
