Atlantic City casino dealers unionize, Pennsylvania dealers vaporize

Atlantic-City-Dealers-UnionizeIn Atlantic City, the first ever union-bargained contract has been approved by the Tropicana’s 700 casino dealers. The pact will see the dealers receive 18% raises over a five-year period. Meanwhile, at the booming casinos in neighboring Pennsylvania, they can’t find enough dealers to handle the volume of customers wishing to place a bet. Might have something to do with the $5/hour base wage, but some casinos are attempting to offset that by paying for slave, er, dealer training in a bid to keep those tables active. Read more.
