Macau revenue jumps following World Cup

venetian macauAfter Barney Frank’s bill finally passes and we get online gambling in Uncle Sam’s backyard, the gaming business’s next port of call should be to lobby FIFA on creating a World Cup every summer, such has been the benefits the gambling world has taken from this summer’s tournament.

Macau, however, is thankful the damn thing’s finished. Revenues in China’s gambling enclave were up 70% in July compared to the previous year, following the conclusion of the tournament, and were nearly 3 billion Macanese patacas up on June. Even if they did schedule the tournament more often than every four years, the chances of Macau’s soccer team reaching it are virtually nil. World ranking: 196. Total nations in FIFA: 208.
