Vegas professor says intrastate poker is like a camel’s nose

Vegas-Prof-Camel-NoseWilliam Eadington is an economics professor at the Institute for the Study of Gambling and Commercial Gaming at the University of Nevada, Reno. In a lengthy Q&A session with the Las Vegas Sun, Eadington addresses a wide range of issues, including (a) why the state of Nevada needs to be told that the gaming industry’s taxing tit is dry; (b) how social networking may be the casinos’ saving grace and (c) why the relationship between Macau and Las Vegas is more complementary than competitive. Eadington also believes legal online gambling in the U.S. is inevitable, and in what is an early favorite for gambling quote of the year, states that “intrastate internet poker may be the camel’s nose under the tent.” Read more.
