Why I’m switching from Tweetdeck to Hootsuite

Hootsuite by Invoke MediaI have been using Tweetdeck for so many months now, lately the refresh button has not been working and the iPhone version crashes a lot. I don’t have much time in the day to blast out tweets anymore, so when I do take the time to tweet I want my Application, both desktop and mobile, to work properly. Therefore I’m switching to Hootsuite from here forward. I know a lot of companies that use Hootsuite, including Oxfam (who worked with Calvin Ayre to raise money for Haiti).

Hootsuite was founded by Invoke Media Interactive Agency and is based here in Vancouver BC where I live and work. I believe in supporting local business also so this makes sense for me. I follow Ryan Holmes on Twitter, who is the founder of Invoke Media. It is nice to see him being so engaging with the communities that he is empowering. CEO’s of other companies can learn from this, take time to listen and engage.

Hootsuite is not only great for Twitter, it works with Facebook, and all of the other top Social platforms. If you buy a professional account it will work with ANY Social platform you want it to. There are a number of Application variations to download depending on your personal usage needs. They also recently launched Social CRM and relationship management tools for large business, to help you filter and prioritize your community feedback needs. This helps to point out the influencers in your community and save time replying, which is powered by the Klout algorithm.

With all of the noise in the Social Media space lately it is nice to see a company providing tools that simplify the needs of individuals and business. I look forward to using Hootsuite moving forward and seeing the company grow. I’m sure Invoke Media will be launching some more interesting tools and applications in the near future and I will be sure to cover them here on the Tablog.

*UPDATE: Below is a video which shows how to setup influencer filtering in the twitterstream.

I have tried both and find that Hootsuite is a much friendlier interface and provides all the functionality I need. Tweetdeck was a bit kludgy to use and the interface wasn't nearly as intuitive, I thought. =)

Yeah, I'm looking forward to using Hootsuite, so far so good, has not crashed once and the feature set and interface are fantastic. Thanks for taking the time to comment. :-)

“The Tweet scheduling” This is probably one of the original Hootsuite features that set them apart. Ever wondered how some people just seem to be on Twitter ALL THE TIME…well they really might have the luxury of that much time to kill, or they could just be scheduling their tweets using this feature. A real godsend! =)

I can see how Tweet scheduling would be useful for business, I know some people who use it :-)

I don't use it though, I just tweet what I'm thinking at the time and reply to others when I have time.

I'm a big believer in 'less is more' when it comes to Twitter, UNLESS you are a news site or similar. My personal account is just for networking and having fun.

    Have a great week guys!

I also switched recently, kinda bored with all that tweetdeck 'API limit exceeded', what i love about hootsuite is also the preview button, wherein previewing webpages, images, videos & even URL shortened links! How's that tweetdeck?

Try TweetTwain, in addition to the above features, you can integrate with your database too, thus integration with your internal applications.
