China smashes record syndicate

Chinese SoldierFollowing an intensive 32-month investigation by Chinese authorities, yet another illegal gambling syndicate has been busted, this time in the Guangxi region. This syndicate, in particular, has set records for being the largest ever bust, and it’s estimated that individual stakes in the group amounted to the equivalent of tens of billions of Euros. The fact that they’ve smashed this ring is all well and good, but if the Chinese loosened regulations on gambling and the Internet then these operations wouldn’t have to take place. Heaven forbid, it might even make them a bit of extra cash, and make for a happier population. Read more.
