Troubled Siena casino gets reprieve from Nevada officials

Behind in its taxes, Reno’s Siena Hotel Spa & Casino was facing a high noon deadline from Nevada’s Gaming Control Board – pay up or shut down. But a reprieve has been granted after the Siena put up its ‘art’ as collateral to ensure they had enough scratch on hand to pay off winners at its 275 slot machines. In the words of a Nevada official, the Siena has enough “cash in the cage” to guarantee the doors stay open for the holiday weekend. After that? Well, let’s hope art appreciates. Read more.
