Now I like gambling as much as the next man but it’s pretty sad when a newspaper resorts to bingo games and assorted giveaways as an incentive to shift units – even if newspapers do have to do something to arrest falling sales. All the same, call me old-fashioned but I like to buy a paper on the strength of its editorial, a good scoop or a topless Nicola T from Croydon on Page 3.
Instead the Daily Mirror has launched a game called Rollover Bingo, in which players who spend £5 on the Mirror’s bingo cards are automatically entered into the National Lottery draw. So the paper costs 45p, a national lottery ticket costs £1 but here’s the option to spend £5 a day instead. Think I’ll just stick to the internet thanks. Read more.
