IDNs: wake up and smell the coffee

Yesterday we reported how the approval of the .xxx porn site domain names could change the future of online gambling websites, which may soon adopt .gam url suffixes. Another key development in this area has been the creation of domains that use only Chinese characters, which have also just won approval by internet address overseer Icann. With one in five people on the planet speaking Chinese the importance of internationalised domain names (IDNs) is clear – as is the need for all iGaming companies to lock down their brand name in Chinese characters as soon as possible.
