Bookmaker Victor Chandler dating ex-wife of cousin

Only recently it was reported that Victor Chandler had split up from his wife, and now we know why. By all accounts, well the Daily Mail’s anyway, he’s now getting it on with the now ex-wife of his devastated cousin and now former communications director Peter Beaton-Brown, who resigned from his post on Monday. If the Gibraltar-based bookmaker was John Terry he’d be pilloried for weeks for this, especially as Chandler also went out with his own cousin for ten years, but he’s not. So he isn’t.

So what’s the deal here? Does VC’s betting empire mean that he prefers to keep his £150m fortune in the family? Is he just too lazy to shop around? Does being minted and not a sports star entitle you to do what the fuck you want? Think that’s a yes all round.
