Businesses counting down for World Cup take-off
So far in 2010, 33 companies have referred to the World Cup as having a material effect on their business in stock exchange announcements. Among them, eight were bookmakers, seven were media companies and three were retail. Most importantly, two were pub groups, who estimate that 21 million pints will be drunk during England games.
